Time at I&N co op band
3 and a half years
Other bands played with
I started playing with Castle Point Youth, then quickly moved to the senior band. At the age of 11 had a chance to go to Guildhall School of Music and Drama junior department, and I was also with the EYO wind band and 2nd EYO under the direction of Dennis Wick, as well as other 10 piece brass ensembles. Within a year of being there I transfered to Aveley band and was with them until I was 18. I then had a break form banding for 4 years to study, but returned to Redbridge Brass. I then moved out to Holland for 8 years, and played with various bands. When I moved back I joined Clacton o-op band, and then I came to Ipswich Co op.
Other Instruments Played
Piano and guitar (pref bass) and trombone badly
Favourite Brass Band Piece
"Journey Into Freedom" Eric Ball
Favourite Non Band Piece
At the moment the big band version of the theme tune to "Family Guy".
Best Banding Moment
Being in banding all my life there are many to list, but the one that sticks out to me is when playing with the junior Guildhall Brass Band at the festaval hall. We played "Cloudcatcher Fells" and at the end of the performance the audience were gobsmacked the a band of under 18 years of age could play a piece of this standard.
Least Favourite Banding Moment
Was when I was at Redbridge Brass at Yeovil and came last - not down to the playing, but just because the band played a big band set and not marches and 'typical' brass band music.
